Day 1

Morning - Photography workshop in the Old City of Jerusalem:
Contrasting preconceptions of Jerusalem and Israel with one's own artistic senses in a comparative photography workshop

Afternoon - Short-film Comparisons:
Screening of student films and discussions with students from Ma’aleh and Sam Spiegel Film Schools, comparing their approaches to filmmaking - one religious and the other secular.
 
Evening - Show at Smadar Theater: 
A small local cinema in Jerusalem's German Colony area.

Day 2

Morning - East West Music Journey
Internationally renowned oud player, Yair Dalal, leads students through a hands-on journey exploring traditional Eastern music and it's relationships to modern Western music and contemporary Israel overall.

**Dalal's studio is in the ancient port city of Yaffo, so we add a couple hours in the middle of the day for time in the local market and lunch in a local hummousiya (hummous restaurant)

Afternoon -  Discussions at Cafe Yaffa
Learn about this Arab-Jewish co-owned bookstore; how and why they opened and what they provide to the mixed city of Yaffo today; followed by a session with the Mizrachi Democratic Rainbow to discuss Ashkenazi and Mizrachi identities in Israeli society today.

Evening -  Music concert
Local music show in Tel Aviv. Evening includes going out to other night-spots after the concert to hear local DJ's and experience the night-life

 

Day 3

Morning - Galleries in the Big City
Workshop, lead by a local artist who graduated from Bezalel Art Academy, to introduce participants to the Tel Aviv gallery scene.

Aftternoon - Explore TLV galleries
Browsing Tel Aviv art galleries in small groups. Students can also explore the famous Tel Aviv coffeehouse scene.
After lunch, students will reconvene create urban art based on their gallery experiences.

Evening - Dance performance
By one of Israel's many local dance troupe's. Performances are at the Suzanne Dalal Center in Neve Tzedek
